Accessible Housing Register Toolkit

The project outputs include:

  • A Property Categorisation Standard.
  • A Property Categorisation Tool.
  • A Framework for assessing the eligibility of disabled people for accessible homes.
  • A Property Inspection Checklist.
  • The Home Connections team have produced a detailed report containing all the findings and examples of good practice as well as the recommendations and Toolkit.     The GLA Launched their Housing choice for disabled Londoners report on the 27th September 2007. The report outlines the way forward and what needs to be done in order to deliver the AHR across London, and includes recommendations from the London AHR Steering Group.

    Copies of the report are also available in Rich Text Format (RTF) at the GLA website.

      Oh Hooray! I hope that you guys across the pond are smarter than we are in the US–where we can not build houses under 600 square feet… when accessible, affordable housing can be built in under 200 square feet.

      Hi Deena thanks for getting in touch and good luck with Access-a-hut approach. It seems like a no-brainer if you can demonstrate both accessibillity within the property and also maximise the use of land. Is there much support at Government level Stateside. The Property Inspection Checklist is on page 51 of the PDF by the way. There is the page in the document for the title and then the checklist and the actual form used follows.
