April 2006: The development of the London Accessible Housing Register (AHR) moved a step closer recently when the London Mayor Ken Livingstone awarded the contract for the first phase of the project to Home Connections following a competitive tender process. The register which will seek to give disabled Londoner’s better information on accessible housing as part of Capital Moves. Capital Moves is the intended pan-London choice based lettings and mobility scheme run by a partnership of the Greater London Authority(GLA), Association of London Government (ALG), the Housing Corporation(HC) and the London Housing Federation(LHF). Capital Moves has become a key target for the London Housing Strategy 2005-2016.

The Project Board will consist of:

• Senior Supplier – Ninesh Muthiah (Home Connections)
• Senior User – Mandy Ruddock (Tower Hamlets Social Services)
• Quality Assurance (Social Model) – Virginia Shaw (Consultant)
• Project Manager – Ron Banerjee (Home Connections)
• Project Support – Christine Simwaba (Home Connections)

Home Connections will establish an AHR Advisory Group comprised of disabled people from local access groups.

Mayor Livingstone said ‘Disabled Home Seekers in London can look forward to being far better informed about their choices and to a system that is consistent across the capital.’
